REVIEW : Snow Beauty II Face Powder by Maquillage

Japan loves it’s limited or seasonal goods and products and today I am introducing you to one of them : Snow Beauty II Face Powder by Maquillage.
This powder gained a lot of popularity last year because of it’s fantastic quality and wonderful product design, so Shiseido decided to release a renewed version of it this year – it actually was just released on September 21.!

I was super lucky to be chosen as a monitor for Snow Beauty by Soen Magazine, so I received my ice crystal covered compact in the end of July to test and review it, and as I already mentioned in this video I uploaded a while ago, I absolutely love this powder! → Click here to see what the other girls thought of it!

It is advertised as a facial essence powder rather than just a make up product, which means that it is supposed to be good for your skin and won’t clog it up like some other powders do. I was a little sceptical at first, because it is also recommended to use the powder in the evening to set your facial essence to be better absorbed into your skin. So I powder my face after I took off all my make up? I didn’t really like this idea, but I tested it anyway and loved the outcome! When I woke up in the morning, my face silky soft and smooth – not the weird oily mess I am used to seeing in the mirror!

Other than that I use it for the obvious, over my foundation. As the powder is translucent (even though it will appear super white and light at first) I lately found it works best over my Etude House BB Cream or my Summer favourite YSL foundation, and even though I still used a setting powder in my video a while ago, I skip that now and just use Snow Beauty II right over my foundation. I found that it won’t dry out my face as much as the setting powder did.

And lastly : just look at it? Isn’t it the cutest package design you have ever seen? I feel as if I should transform into Let it go singing Elsa any moment I touch it!

EDIT : I think it is sold out everywhere right now. But I found a seller on Amazon!

OMG this is sooo gorgeous! I would just buy it for the packaging alone! Sounds really interesting though, my skin does get really oily overnight so a product like this might be good for myself to try!

I just found out the other day that it’s already sold out for good It is such a nice thing, because it’s so light and doesn’t clog at all, I hope Shiseido will remake into a regular thing!

Omg a powder to put on at night?? I am floored, because I too am an oily mess in the mornings, what I would give to wake up and look like a normal human being.

It’s so expensive though… I just shelled out a pretty penny for that Sailor Moon brooch powder too… Ahhhh, maybe I can resell some things to break even and purchase this too…

    Thanks for sharing!

I didn’t even know about the price until it came out, I thought the whole set would maybe cost ¥5000 at highest I guess the research that went into it had to be paid…
But I think it is actually quite similar to the Sailor Moon Powder! I’m always too late to get my hands on that one though, but a friend was lucky and the way she described it sounded quite similar! ♥
The one I have is already all sold out as I was told the other day, so if I find something to substitute, I will let you know!!

      So pretty right!!
I just heard the other day that it is sold out for good though, so once I finish mine, I’ll have to find a good powder all over again…

Ah that’s unfortunate. Hope you can find another one.
