Last weekend I was one of my favorite things of the season happened: Sretsis Collection Launch!
While Sretsis had a beautiful runway show in Bangkok to launch their new collection for Spring and Summer, they had a launch party in their Tokyo shop to celebrate the new season.
Sretsis’ events are always full of magic and perfectly in tone with the imagery and feel of the current collection. I was waiting in anticipation to see what the three sisters came up this time around and they didn’t fail to take my breath away with the new ‘Happiness is…’ collection.
The theme for this seasons collection is Happiness with inspiration taken from the Kingdom of Bhutan and their Bhutanese philosophy on happiness. A few of the clothes presented resemble traditional Bhutanese garments, such as the blouses with lined necklines and floral embroidery, which gives the collection a folkloric vibe. Paired with airy silk dresses and tunics in quirky pansy prints, dresses showered in floral lace appliqués, accessories just like flowers plucked and loosely draped in your hair, and the mascot of the season, the perfectly manicured tiger greeting here and there, the whole collection is coming together as a bohemian but urban flower garden!
The launch party itself had a few wonderful surprises for us. First of all, Martina, one of the three Sretsis sisters and the jewellery designer of the trio was there and it was a great opportunity to hear her talk about the collection and how they went about the planning process. Other than that, Terawat Teankaprasith, the graphic designer Sretsis has been working together with for a long time was there to sketch portraits of the guests to take home as a present! It was mesmerising to see him at work and within a short 15 minutes, he had captured Linda and me in an ink-colored double portrait! Talk about talents I wish I had.
Of course I had to get myself a little something from the collection too – I promise I’ll show you soon! If you follow me on Snapchat you might have seen it already!
