Being a true Hamburger, one of my most cherished memories from my childhood is having fun evenings strolling around the Hamburger Dom with my family – a funfair build up right in the center of St. Pauli three times a year.
My dad would have the burden to carry the huge teddybear we just won at the lottery stand right next to the entrance and my mum would wave at me and my sister going round after round in carrousels. Somewhere in between we would grab a bag of roasted almonds and a gingerbread heart with funny names on it and enjoy the evening.
Since i moved to Tokyo, I never had the chance to visit the Dom again, since it was simply never on when I was in the city, but this time was different! Coming back to this place that was so magical for me when I was little was incredibly nostalgic and brought back to many memories – I was so happy that evening, I might have been the most enthusiastic person on the whole ground there!
And even more so as I had Stefanie Thiele with me, who I am not only proud to call my cousin ♥, but who is also an incredibly talented artist and photographer! She followed me around with her camera managing to capture every little one of those precious moments.
